The uMkhonto weSizwe party (MKP) will also participate in the anti-immigrant group March to March’s planned anti-immigration protest on 30 June.
Former Pres. However, Jacob Zuma’s party undertakes to participate peacefully in the demonstration.
“The purpose of the march is to express the concerns of South Africans peacefully, and any acts of violence or looting will not be supported or approved by the MKP,” said Sibonelo Nomvalo, the secretary general of the MKP, on Thursday.
Nomvalo said at a media conference in Sandton on Thursday that the MKP supports the planned march.
However, Nomvalo said in the same breath that the party strongly appeals to all participants to behave in a peaceful, legal and disciplined manner.
“We call on all participants to respect the law, the rights of others and the authority of law enforcement agencies.
“The party condemns any acts of violence, intimidation, destruction of property, looting or criminality that would arise during the march.”
This message comes as a result of the deadly riots of July 2021, which at the time coincided with Zuma’s arrest. More than 350 people died during the riots at the time.
There is currently substantial concern that the planned anti-immigration demonstration of June 30 will proceed in the same way.
March to March warned that the country would be forced to a standstill on June 30 if all illegal immigrants did not leave South Africa by that date.
