ALTHOUGH it looked like Arsenal FC had escaped the title of the English Premier League as they were beaten by rivals Manchester City, but City’s loss against Everton last week gave this London club another chance.

As both teams are separated by two points, Arsenal is on top with 79, City is in second place with 77. The two remaining games will determine whether the title goes to London or Manchester.

Since being knocked down by their rivals, Man City 2-1 on April 19, Arsenal have risen to take charge as they have won all three games in a row, including West Ham which they won 1-0 last Sunday.

There are two games left to play against Burnley, played by Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster, and Crystal Palace. Will play against Burnley on Monday at 9 pm at the Emirates Stadium, London. It wraps up with Palace on May 24 at Selhurst Park.

City will play the FA Cup final today at 4 pm at Wembley Stadium, London, with Premier League games remaining against Bournemouth and Aston Villa.

Will play Bournemouth on Tuesday at 8.30pm.

The Gunners’ scoreless streak in key games makes it highly anticipated that they will be able to hold on to the two games that have already avoided disappointment.

Although they will face Burnley, who have already been relegated, it would be selfish to underestimate this team whose players will play for dignity and sell themselves to the Premier League teams in the remaining games.

Even the coach of The Gunners, Mikel Arteta, admits that the beating of his team by Man City is what woke them up.

“We used our defeat (by Man City) as a lesson and as a motivation to understand the work we have done up to this point in the season,” said Arteta, as quoted by AFP.

The Gunners who have been for three seasons since 2022/23 are second in the Premier League log, under the leadership of Arteta they have the challenge of ending the drought of 21 seasons of not winning the Premier League. It last won it in the 2003/04 season.
