Millions of South Africans live with invisible eye problems, often unaware that poor vision can affect education, productivity, job opportunities, and overall quality of life. For many people living in rural areas and underserved communities, access to affordable eye care remains a major challenge.

Through its commitment to improving access to eye care, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation is changing lives while creating meaningful opportunities for young optometry graduates across South Africa.

The Foundation Eye Entrepreneur Program empowers graduates by providing them with the support, training, entrepreneurship training, and resources needed to establish and implement sustainable eye care practices within their communities. By focusing on underserved and rural areas, the program helps bridge the gap between professional eye care services and the people who need them most.

These independent practices provide affordable eye exams and high-quality eyeglasses, ensuring that communities underserved by traditional health care infrastructure can access critical vision care close to home.

Creating opportunities for Graduates

For many newly trained optometrists, establishing a private practice can be financially challenging. The Eye Entrepreneurs program helps overcome these barriers by equipping graduates with the tools and guidance needed to build successful businesses while serving their communities.

This program not only creates job opportunities but also supports local economic development, allowing graduates to become business owners and healthcare providers at the same time.

By empowering graduates to become entrepreneurs, the Foundation is helping to build a sustainable network of eye care professionals dedicated to improving vision health across South Africa.

Signs You May Need an Eye Exam

Most vision problems develop slowly and often go unnoticed. Do any of these symptoms sound familiar?

  • Blurred or blurry vision, near or far
  • Glancing to see objects, screens, or learning materials
  • Frequent headache after reading or using the screen for a long time
  • Difficulty seeing at night
  • Children who have trouble seeing the classroom board clearly
  • Eyes that are tired, stressed, or sore after daily activities

These are common signs that you may need an eye exam and corrective eyewear.

Paid Eye Care may be possible

The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation network has doctors who are committed to making quality eye care accessible.

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving eye health, patients can find R50 OFF 2.5 NVG mirrors when they visit their nearest participating doctor. This offer is valid until June 30.

If you haven’t received the voucher yet of SMS, just reply “VOUCHER” to 34613 to find out your unique voucher code.

Empowering People with a Better Vision

Good vision is more than just seeing clearly—it enables children to learn, adults to work more effectively, and families to thrive. Through its Eye Entrepreneurs Program, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation not only improves access to affordable eye care but also empowers a new generation of graduates to build successful businesses and strengthen the communities they serve.

Every eye exam has life-changing potential. Don’t wait for eye problems to hold you or your family back.

Get your eyes tested today and find out the difference it can make to see clearly.
