The ENJOYMENT of the love relationship you are in and being happy that you are going to get married or will get married, can make you ignore that other things and challenges will end up disrupting or shaking your marriage, causing more problems that could have been avoided.

So says Mrs. Samukelisewe Msomi, recounting why she wrote and published a book entitled Things I Wish I Knew Before I Became A Step-Parent, which she started selling on Amazon and Burble Online Shop from June 19.

In an interview with Solezwe about the book, Mrs Msomi said that what pushed her the most to write it, which took her three years – is that she realized a lot after a long time in her marriage, which has been 10 years.

“When I married my husband more than 10 years ago, I found him already having a child who was seven years old at the time, it was because we were enjoying our love and we were looking towards marriage, we didn’t take the opportunity to discuss other important situations that I ended up learning the hard way after we got married,” said Mrs Msomi.

He said that the book shows the different situations that people in love relationships face when they meet someone who already has a child.

“What I’m talking about is understanding the challenges I’m facing myself, there were those I saw in the relationships of other people I know and interacted with while writing this book. Another thing I didn’t pay attention to when I was growing up was what happened in my family as my father had such a situation that although he gave birth to me out of wedlock, he had other children he gave birth to before he was married,” he added.

He said his main aim with this book is to encourage people who are going to enter into a romantic relationship, whether someone already has a child with them or they already have both, so that it is discussed first how those situations will be dealt with so that they don’t create noise over time – which could end up ending the relationship altogether.

Apart from this book, which costs R250 – Mrs Msomi has three other books that she published in the past years called Wedding Ready or Marriage Ready: Before and After the Aisle? For 2021, it was Declare and Decree: Change Your Destiny by Changing Your Words and for 2022 you revealed yourself in 2021 Step-Parenting Showed Me Flames.
