The situation in front of the PSL Footballer of the Season award, Lucas Ribeiro, is difficult, as he faces the axing of his Spanish team that plays in the main division.

Ribeiro (27) who is still crying because of what he left behind in South African football while he was in the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, may find himself playing in the third division if his team Cultural Deportiva Leonessa does not change its appearance in the remaining league games.

This player who should be helping Sundowns defend the title of Betway Premiership and also contribute to correcting the mistake of last season in the Caf Champions League, should be helping Leonessa to get off the tail in the Spanish La Liga 2 log.

Ribeiro from Brazil came to the PSL in 2023 and it was clear that no one can reach his level as in his last season in this team from Chlorkop he won all the major prizes of the PSL.

Instead of his football going up, he joined the Spanish team and it was as if things started well but then turned around again.

In the first months, Ribeiro was chosen as the player of the month in Leonessa as he saved a penalty in the last time they were beaten by FC Andorra 4-0.

Currently, Leonessa with 28 points in 32 league games has put a brake on the log but what makes their task even more difficult is that they have less than 10 league games left before the end of the season.

If you compare this number of games with the recent form of Leonessa, it is almost clear that it may be relegated because Real Zaragoza, which is the team that sits in the last place (relegation) in the log, is better by five points.

Since the news of Ribeiro’s unwellness in Spain broke out, Kaizer Chiefs fans have been asking Kaizer Motaung Jnr who is their chief on social media to let the player go because his contract with Leonessa expires on June 30.
