Government workers who will be out of work today because of the marches to cry about foreigners who are in the country illegally are being warned that they will see what happened to the cat on the tree.
This warning was issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Administration, after receiving questions about what procedure must be followed today as there will be an accident in different cities.
The circular issued by Mr. Willie Vukela, the acting director general of the department, said it was a normal day.
“The heads of the departments are reminded that since the group of ministers responsible for the entry and exit of people in the country, said that June 30, is a normal day. The group said that the State is ready to protect everyone, including immigrants in the country from being harmed. It is not a strike that is legally protected, so there is no government job to participate in it,” he said.
It said these marches are not protected under the Labor Relations Act.
“There is no work that he should be part of during work. Heads of departments should follow the legal guidelines to ensure that services continue to be delivered to the people but prioritize the safety of employees under the 51 Public Service Regulations of 2016.”
It said that those who will be unemployed today must deal with their issue according to the existing laws in the country. President Cyril Ramaphosa also said that today is a normal day so workers must be at work.
The trade unions, including Cosatu, have made it clear that they sympathize with the grievances of the people as well as the anger and high spirits that exist in the country at this time. They said there are a lot of unemployed people in this country, and people have the right to march but not to harm or destroy property.
“We support the campaigns against the people who broke away, but we want to remind the workers that it is not a legally protected strike because it was not called by the labor unions. The workers must go to work and must be protected by the government.”
