The recovery of Kaizer Chiefs full-back Rushwin Dortley, who has been out of action since he injured his knee at the end of last season, is on the decline.

Dortley (23), the team has already reported that he had a successful operation on his knee, there was hope that this season could end while he is still playing.

After Saturday’s Betway Premiership match in which Chiefs drew 0-0 with Polokwane City, coach Cedric Kaze revealed that Dortley has started to touch the ball.

“Last week he started touching the ball so I’m sure it won’t be long before he returns,” said Kaze when asked by the media about Dortley’s recovery.

The coach then explained by giving the chance to play to Reeve Frosler, who is also a defender on the right side, who recently returned from an injury that had kept him out for a long time.

Frosler, who last played in October last year, was seen for the first time this season wearing the Makhosi jersey as they beat Magesi FC 4-1 last Wednesday, coming off the bench in the second half.

In Saturday’s game against Polokwane, Frosler came on a few minutes before the end of the game, replacing Thabiso Monyane.

“He was injured for a long time. So a game like that should give him little by little the opportunity to play, not to push him with a lot of work that could put him at risk of getting injured again.

“He is coming very well and he is a player who can help us because of his experience. He knows how to attack and marks well.

“He is clever in getting into the right spaces to bend the balls so I am sure that from now until the end of the season he will help us a lot.”

Dortley, who is a center back, joined Amakhosi last season from Cape Town Spurs, and made his mark playing 20 games in all competitions before suffering an injury in March last year.

And even in the national team, Bafana Bafana, he was always called to say that his drinking recovery has given him a unique opportunity to play in the FIFA World Cup which will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada, from June to July.

There is no question that Makoshisi’s recent form and run has come at the right time, which has created a lot of excitement for their home match in Soweto against Orlando Pirates which will be played on Sunday at 3 pm, at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

This Naturena team, which has won five of the last six games, is fighting to finish third in the Premiership log with the aim of securing a place in the Caf Confederation Cup next season.

On the other hand, Zimnyama are still in contention for the league title with Mamelodi Sundonwns.
