DESPITE the fact that you are facing financial problems, but the Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal, rejected the one to be placed under the supervision of the administrator. The officials of the department said that these rumors have spread and are not true as the department is still under the full control of its Minister, Mr. Sipho Hlomuka.

The spokesperson for the department, Mr. Muzi Mahlambi, said it is not true that the department has been placed under the control of the administrator.

“The decision to include the department under section 100 of the Constitution of the country, is taken by the national Cabinet. Therefore, there is no similar decision taken by the Cabinet,” he said.

In the past, there were those who suggested that the department should be placed under the administrator due to financial problems.

Mahlambi said that if the department is included under this section, a message will be issued informing about this move.

“The department continues to work normally. There is no disruption.”

He said they continue to provide education to the students of the province.

“We continue to work with different agencies to provide education. We want to remind people to trust the information released by government agencies.”

It just so happens that this department is not going out of its way to talk as it is facing the challenges of not having enough money to pay businessmen on time as well as paying the money known by Norms and Standards. You can’t even buy textbooks.

You can’t even fill the posts of inspectors, those who work in offices as well as in circuits because of money. This is done by the fact that a large part of the budget goes to teachers’ salaries.

This department came under section 18 (2) (g), where it is necessary to first pay homage to the department of the Treasury in the province if you want to do something. This is so that you don’t spend money that you don’t have.

Sadtu went to court where he wanted the department to be forced to meet all the needs of the schools. This court issued this order and if the department fails, it will be breaking the law.
