Durban University of Technology (DUT) will rely on its 30 members to perform well in the Comrades Marathon on Sunday.

The members of DUT are made up of former students, students and staff from different fields who are expected to do well in this competition which is coming back for the 99th time this year, which will start from Durban and wrap up in Pietermaritzburg.

The theme of this year’s competition is Ska Fela Moya, which is Suthu – which means Endless Moya in Zuu, and is intended to encourage those who will run in it to not run out of breath.

Those from DUT who intervened include two members of the university’s executive committee, the acting chief financial officer, Mr. Siboniso Shabalala and the director of the department of business studies, Professor Pfano Mashau; there were 11 working at the university namely Mr. Lindokuhle Manyoni, Mr. Wesley Ngcobo, Mr. Liam Rehman, Ms. Nobahle Mncube, Mr. Lubabalo Mbangata, Dr. Lauren Hillerman, Mr. Nkeka Tseoule, Dr. Mthobisi Ntuli, Mr. Lungelo Zulu, Ms. Collen Lotz and Mr. Naeem Sacoor; there were seven students Mr. Ngceba Kenisa, Ms. Nqobile Mngadi, Mr. Katlego Molemisi, Mr. Lwando Mavana, Mr. Njabulo Bhengu, Ms. Nonhlanhla Siyaya and Ms. Ephania Kwashirayi and 10 who studied there in previous years Mr. Steven Mkhize, Mr. Khayelihle Ngubane, Mr. Nathi Mhlongo, Mr. Collin Makhubu, Ms. Yenzi Olifant, Mr. With us Tonie Mhlongo, Mr. Bandile Ndaba, Ms. Dudu Ditlhale, Ms. Zimasa Mngkese and Mr. Craig Denhill.

Mr. Lindokuhle Manyoni who is in charge of sports programs especially running at DUT, said that the participation of so many members of their institution shows how much the university cares about sports and their importance in human life.

“We hope that their participation in this will encourage others to follow in their footsteps, and that it will make people in general realize the importance of taking care of their bodies by exercising and participating in such programs,” he said.
