Dress warmly if you intend to queue at a polling station for voter registration weekend on Saturday or Sunday.

According to the weather service, mainly cold and cloudy conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the country. Elsewhere it will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the westernmost parts of the country.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Northern Cape, Free State and North West on Saturday and are expected to spread to the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo on Sunday. Rain is also possible in places in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.

The weather service advises people to prepare for cold and windy conditions, especially across inland and eastern areas. The combination of low temperatures, rain in places and wind could potentially lead to uncomfortable conditions outside for those traveling to and from polling stations.
