It will be noticeably colder in the Karoo this week.

The South African Weather Service says a cut-off low pressure system is expected to affect the central and western interior of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday. This includes parts of the Northern Cape and the western parts of the Free State.

The system is expected to bring breezy conditions and isolated to scattered showers as the system develops over the interior.

According to the weather service, a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over several provinces, including the Northern Cape, can be expected due to the system.

Partly cloudy and cool conditions are also expected over the central, north-eastern and western parts of the country on Monday.

Meanwhile, the weather service has issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds for Monday along the south-west coast of the Western Cape.
