STAR American singer Chris Brown has been ordered to pay a fine of R214 million after he was found guilty of being negligent in the treatment of his pet dog.
This is from an incident in 2020, involving his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, who filed a lawsuit after she went to throw trash at the door, and was attacked by the singer’s dog.
The report of the damage caused to Avila revealed that the dog is now very dangerous, which is proven by the fact that it was kept in the yard to guard against danger, and not just for normal domestication.
In the details of the case in the Los Angeles Court it was revealed that Avila suffered serious injuries to his face and arm, and the situation caused him severe mental trauma.
Avila initially filed a lawsuit, demanding R1.4 billion, but the court’s decision said he must be compensated R214 million.
The decision of the court said that this incident happened due to the negligence of not taking care that the dangerous animal he kept in the yard, is kept far away and harmless to the people in his house.
Chris tried to defend himself by saying that the dog belonged to one of his bodyguards, not his own, but the court was not satisfied with that.
One of the things that bothered him the most is that it turned out that the dog should have been kept in his room, not just lurking in the yard, and that Chris is accused of not contacting the emergency services on the day of the incident because he was afraid that it might attract the attention of people and the media.
Avila gave evidence that made it clear how traumatic the incident was for him, including the damage to his face, left arm and stomach – and the extent to which he was unable to work.
He also showed the court the scars under his left eye, on his forehead and on his left arm.
