The widow of murdered activist Charlie Kirk (31) came face to face with the man accused of murdering her husband in a US court on Monday.

Erika Kirk was among the people who attended a hearing that will determine whether there is enough evidence that 23-year-old Tyler Robinson should stand trial for the shooting death of Kirk in September 2025 on a university campus in Utah.

The murder of Kirk, an influential figure whose organization, Turning Point USA, played a key role in mobilizing young people to vote for Pres. Donald Trump’s vote sent shockwaves through American politics and dominated debate for weeks.

Erika Kirk, who was joined in court in Utah by Donald Trump Jr. and other prominent figures, said her husband was “loved”.

“Every court proceeding is a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably affected our lives and those of his children,” she wrote on social media before the proceedings.

Praying for strength and peace for Erika Kirk as she faces another incredibly difficult day in court. No family should have to endure such pain. May truth prevail, justice be served, and may she find the courage to keep moving forward one step at a time. Stay strong you are in…

He has not yet submitted a plea explanation.

Investigators say Robinson – who grew up as a Mormon in a Republican household – allegedly killed Charlie Kirk, apparently because he could not stand the “hate” that Kirk preached.

Detectives say Robinson admitted to the murder in text messages he sent to the transgender person with whom he shared an apartment and with whom he was in a romantic relationship.

Statement on behalf of Charlie Kirk’s immediate family, his parents Robert and Kathryn, his wife, Erika, and his sister, Mary:

Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father. Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has…
