THE move of the former Minister of Police, Mr. Bheki Cele, has been watched, as it turned out that the integrity committee in the ANC has recommended that he resign from the executive committee of the organization.

Cele and the former Minister of Social Development, Mrs Sisisi Tolashe, appear in the list of five ANC leaders in the report of the integrity committee in the ANC which suggests that action should be taken.

Cele was called before the integrity committee to answer the allegations that he was given money by a businessman who does not shy away from talking and is facing a series of cases, Mr. Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

Earlier, Matlala dragged Cele’s name down telling the Parliamentary committee investigating allegations made by the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, that he bribed Cele with R500 000.

The integrity committee said that Cele brought the organization into disrepute and recently, veterans of the ANC have appeared, saying that Cele should resign from the executive committee. It is said that the allegations against him are very serious so he should resign.

This seems to reduce the chances of Cele being nominated as the mayor of Durban after the November elections. So it is being looked forward to what steps he will take after this proposal.

Matlala tarnished Cele’s name and ended it when she revealed that she used to sleep in her house in her brother’s place when she was working in Pretoria. Many held their hands in their heads that a person holding such a high position could sneak into the house of a man accused of a serious crime.

On the other hand, Mrs Tolashe was fired for taking cars donated by Chinese businessmen to be used by the women’s wing of the ANC, and gave them to her children. The women’s wing of the ANC met on Saturday and drove the last nail in her direction.

Other ANC leaders who are expected to take action are the one who is a member of the Mayor’s council in the Johannesburg Municipality, Mr. Sithembiso Zungu, the Chairman of the ANC in the Sedibeng region, Mr. Jason Mkhwane, and the Mayor of Mathjabeng Municipality, Mr. Thanduxolo Khalipha.
