The Department of Cooperative Governance and Indigenous Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal has officially begun the next major phase of distributing business tools to traditional leaders.
This program started in Durban today, where the chiefs representing the five regions gathered to receive their cars. This rollout is part of a wider provincial program to distribute 35 vehicles this week. After the launch today in Durban, the department’s plan will move quickly to ensure that other districts throughout the province receive their vehicles this week.
This program stems from the provincial government’s promise, announced during the opening of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislative Assembly this year, to equip traditional leadership with the necessary resources to fulfill their constitutional and traditional obligations. Seeing the important role played by Amakhosi in promoting peace, preserving heritage, and developing rural areas.
Cogta trustee Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi says indigenous leadership is still an important pillar of governance. With this ongoing investment, KZN COGTA continues to strengthen its relationship with Makhosi.
