THE COACH of Bafana Bafana, Hugo Broos, has come out publicly saying that there is no advice he can give to the coach who will take over after his departure from coaching the national team as he believes that the one who will take over will be well aware of the job he is taking on.

Broos said this at a press conference after Bafana was eliminated by Canada in the round of 32 of the Fifa World Cup, kneeling 1-0 on Tuesday, at the Los Angeles Stadium, in the United States of America (USA), on Sunday night.

This veteran coach from Belgium, has made history by being the first coach to successfully lead the Bafana Bafana national team to the knockout stage for the first time in history in the World Cup, starting in 1998 when it first participated in this world football competition.

The 74-year-old coach is expected to step down from coaching Bafana as his contract with the national team expires after the World Cup.

And the governing body of football in the country, the South African Football Association (Safa) has confirmed that it has opened its arms to accepting job applications from coaches who are vying for a coaching position, however it has also revealed that Broos can also reapply for coaching.

“That’s something I won’t do,” said Broos, when asked about the advice he could give to a coach taking over for Bafana.

“If I quit, a new coach comes, he has to do his way too. He will no longer have to listen to me, and it will no longer be necessary for me to give him advice saying ‘do this, don’t do this.’

The coach who will take over after I leave will know the job he has to do.

It’s just that he’ll find a good team, and then it’s up to him how he works with it. Maybe he should make this team better than it is now. That’s all I can say.”

It turns out that Pitso Mosimane is one of the coaches being looked at to take over the coaching of Bafana after Broos left.
