Nongoma FM broadcaster, Nqubeko Ndlela, has organized an additional competition with the aim of stopping students from attacking each other caused by village war. This amazing talent has started the Student Addition Game since 2023. This event will be held at Nongoma Multi-Purpose Hall this Saturday from 9 am

“I started this dream and published it on my Facebook page, it was still a thought until it came true in 2025. What made it come true in 2025 was the departure of the war from some of our schools in Nongoma where it reached the point where there were students passing away.” He said that these wars were fought in schools until they spread to the community, and eventually there were village wars, because of something that started in schools.

“Last year, I brought together more than 63 schools through the Student Addition Game. I said let’s bring together the schools in Zululand and see what solution we can come up with.”

He said that the main purpose of this game was to create tolerance for children in schools and reduce the village wars that will start in schools.

“After I announced this game last year, I said let’s get all the schools together and let’s talk about this story so that we can fight for the love of the school and for the students to love each other and know that a student from another school is your sister or your brother even if you don’t study in the same school. I made it clear to the students that let’s start this to build peace and harmony with all schools in general, it’s just a fight for cleanliness and self-love for the students.”

He said that since then, there is peace and tolerance in his local schools and students are encouraged to learn to change the conditions in their homes.

“This year 2026, the runner-up of the game is coming back and the schools in Newcastle and Dumbe as well as Mkhanyakude are also saying that they will be a part this year. Another big thing this year is that we will see sponsors getting closer to this game so that there will be a prize of school shoes and so on and money.”

This year the prizes are as follows: Number 1 will walk away with R5000, a medal and medals, number 2 will be awarded R2000, a medal and medals and number 3 will be humbled by R1 000, a medal and medals. Nqubeko said that there will be many other prizes, from more than 15 of their sponsors.
