IMOTO: VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER

I recently posted a video of the Volkswagen Amarok on social media and asked people to tell me which other van is on its level in terms of comfort.

Instead of answering the question, some people just said that it’s a Ford Ranger after all, the one I posted.

It is not hidden that Volkswagen and Ford have a working relationship. In fact, the new Amarok is built at the Ford factory in Pretoria where the Ranger is also produced.

Their partnership led to the joint creation of the Transporter which is heavily based on the Ford Tourneo.

Once again, Volkswagen has done everything to make it different, just like they did in the Amarok.

The front has LED lights for the first time. They light up a lot when it’s dark and they stop when there’s another car coming so they don’t dazzle others. However, he had forgotten that I was crossing the N2 from the south coast along Mthwalume until I ended up lighting them up myself.

From the outside it looks better than the old one and you can see the newness in it.

I love that the passenger doors open from both sides making it easy to get in.

Getting into the driver’s seat is not difficult because there is a step.

It loads eight passengers in leather seats so no one is left behind in the family when you go on a trip. Even if you have a business of transporting people, you load more people because it is bigger than the old one.

I like that the USB charging ports are on the back as well as the aircon vents.

I’m going with the guys I live with and one of us wanted us to turn our seats to face each other. You will find that in the T7 which is open for orders but here you can only remove it if you want to increase the loading space. Don’t miss a report on the T7 in the next few days.

The front seats are heated which is nice as it is only winter.

There are plenty of places to put things. At the front there is a touchscreen infotainment system to which you connect a mobile phone via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto without a cable and it has a digital instrument cluster.

On the road, it runs on a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. It has a power of 125kW and a torque of 390Nm. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic transmission that you can change yourself if you want.

I just let it do itself.

On the road I noticed how comfortable it is compared to the old one. Road roughness was limited to wheels with 17-inch rims and soft suspension.

The power felt sufficient even though most of the time I was traveling alone and sometimes I had three passengers.

VW diesel says it consumes 8l/100km but for me it consumes 9.1l/100km. I like that the tank is big because I traveled 430km and it showed that it can still travel 297km.

They didn’t forget the driver’s aids because if you’re going a long way, it can help you stay on track or put it on cruise control.

Parking is not a problem because it turns close and has a camera and sensors on the back.

Price:

2.0 TDI 125kW 4×2 Life Auto SWB (8-seater) – R 1,174,600

It comes with a three-year or 120,000km warranty and a five-year or 60,000km maintenance plan.
