A suspect who was wanted for murder was shot and seriously injured during a shootout with the police in Mariannhill in the early hours of Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
The police received information about the whereabouts of a suspect who was linked to two murders allegedly committed in Mpumalanga township, Hammersdale in December 2021 and June 2026.
When the police arrived at his hideout in the Luganda area of Mariannhill, there was a shootout between the suspect and the police. The suspect was shot dead, no policeman was injured during the shootout.
