A businessman from Durban has started a program to bring back his choir’s music to the community so that it can be used to fight against incidents of violence that torture many citizens of KwaZulu-Natal.

Mr. Siphiwe Bulose of the Siphiwe Bulose Foundation said yesterday that he presented a guide that will be consulted on plans to revive this music in schools as it seems to be disappearing.

He said the aim is to encourage young people to sharpen their skills in this type of music that has been very popular in recent years.

Speaking to the media, Bulose announced that they will have a Choral Music Conference which will be discussed in detail about plans to develop this music so that you can put students and people in the community on the map.

“In this programme, we intend to discuss plans to develop choirs and how we can make it possible for us to bring in money to help the youth. The other thing is that we also have a role for the students who sing this music and when they leave school they find they have no way to continue with it.

“So we will have a way for them to know that even when they are in higher education institutions, they can start their own groups for this music. We are doing this in collaboration with the Zulu Kingdom Choir and we have the Ministry of Education with us as it plays an important role in growing this choral music in schools,” said Bulose.

He said that this music plays a big role in the society to have stability and that people get out of many things that ruin their lives unnecessarily.

Choral music was known for building a nation and it was popular for being for self-interested and educated people most of the time which made it attract a lot of people who wanted to be successful in the society.

Bulose announced that since they are going to have forums related to this music, they have planned that tomorrow there will be a training meeting in terms of skills in this type of music.

He said that this meeting will be held at the Methodist Church Durban Central, and that is where all those who will be there will be sharpened from morning to afternoon.

On September 26, he said that there will be a big conference that will be held in Durban, Greyville, as there will be a lot of discussion about things that affect this music field from competitions, the organization of groups that participate in meetings and so on.
