The NATIONAL Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has decided not to prosecute – at least for now – the man (58) arrested for shooting and killing a driver in a road violence incident in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Sunday.

The suspect was supposed to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, on Tuesday, after being arrested for murdering Mr. Faisal ul Rehman (48) and attempting to kill his wife, Mrs. Tehseen.

“After carefully examining the evidence of the alleged street violence in Emmarentia, the NPA has decided not to prosecute anyone as investigations are ongoing,” said NPA spokesperson, Mr. Magaboke Mohlatlole.

The man’s legal team sent representations to the government saying that their client was defending himself.

In his statement, the man said Rehman and Tehseen insulted him and beat him after the collision.

He said that Mrs. Tehseen escalated the situation by pulling out her hands, before she gave them to her husband who also shot at her.
