According to Jacques Nel, founder of the Owl Orphanage Rehabilitation Center in Velddrif on the West Coast, the centre’s operating costs vary between R40 000 and R50 000 per month during the quieter months, while expenses during the breeding season can amount to between R60 000 and R70 000.
