THE CAPTAIN of the national men’s T20 team, Aiden Markram, and of the national women’s teams, Laura Wolvaardt, were the ones who took the lead when the outstanding cricketers in the country were awarded.
These players are the ones who received major awards at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, on Thursday night.
Markram was twice named as the best player in the country as he received the SA Men’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
Another outstanding player is the national men’s team bowler, Lungi Ngidi, who was nominated as T20I Player of the Year, SA Fans’ Player of the Year and Best Men’s Delivery of the Year.
Wolvaardt almost collected everything for women as she took the SA Women’s Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, ODI Player of the Year and T20I Player of the Year awards.
Nonkululeko Mlaba received the award for Best Women’s Delivery of the Year, while young player Kayla Reyneke was named International Women’s Newcomer of the Year.
