The Minister for Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, will travel to Buhleni following the incident on Monday afternoon.
This minister will accompany the mayor of Durban, Cyril Xaba, as he wishes to get specific information about this incident, which happened on Monday and resulted in eight people being injured.
The report of the Department of Governance and Indigenous Affairs, says that the wall is 18 meters high and buried under the ground about 20 members of this church as the incident happened when a large number of people gathered to attend Mdedele ka Julayi, who has spent a whole month in this place.
The Minister of the Ministry, Mr. Thulasizwe Buthelezi, said that emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident in an instant, rescued eight people, gave them first aid, and rushed them to hospitals.
“Two of them were seriously injured. The search for the others is still ongoing,” said Buthelezi.
He confirmed that the disaster teams at the provincial level as well as the emergency services in the Municipality of Thekwini are also at the scene to assist in the critical process of rescuing people.
