IT AIMES to encourage young people to get into technology so that they can make a living with the Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality program in collaboration with the Khahlamba Chamber of Commerce.

This was revealed by Mr. Simphiwe Mngoma who is one of the senior officers of the Khahlamba Chamber of Commerce when he spoke at the Apex Boutique Hotel, Mtshezi, at the weekend, when the training program for 100 young people from different parts of the area was officially launched.

This program is called Youth Digital Media and Film Youth Indaba and Youth Tech Rise Bootcamp.

He said the main purpose of this program is to ensure that young people gain knowledge that will help them a lot in being able to make a living using technology.

He pointed out that there are a lot of livelihood opportunities in this sector, but the problem is that young people have no knowledge about it.

He lamented that young people are lagging behind when it comes to technology, saying that the time has come for young people to stand up and make sure that they do everything they can to use technology to benefit them.

“Today we have this program, we want these young people to learn more about the opportunities that exist in this field. I have no doubt that this will be successful in every way,” he said.

He promised that they will follow up with the young people after this program to ensure that it really works for them.

Mr. Bhekisisa Ngcobo who is the director of the youth unit at the Ministry of Communications said that the priority is to ensure that young people use technology to chase away the cat from the hearth.

He said the program needs young people who are interested in acquiring technical knowledge to benefit.

The young people who got this opportunity thanked the municipality and promised that they will definitely take this opportunity with both hands and make sure that it helps them.

Mrs. Zama Nxumalo said they were impressed because it is part of this program which she said she believes is only emerging slowly.

He said they are grateful for being a part of it.

“We have benefited a lot from being a part of this hell. What is left now is for us to use the knowledge we have received here to continue making a living,” he explained.

On the last day of their training, they were given certificates for completing this training of several days.
