Cooperation between the police in Devon, Gauteng, and the Mpumalanga Organized Crime Investigation Unit led to the arrest and arrest of two suspects who are believed to be part of the bluelight gang known as the car theft gang.
The suspects, aged 32 and 41, were arrested on Friday, 3 July 2026, during a roadblock in Devon. It is reported that one car failed to stop when it was stopped by the police, and it started to be chased, until it was stopped, in Leslie.
The police searched the car and found an unlicensed gun and ammunition, green lights, Kurhuleni police uniform and SAPS.
Further investigation revealed that the car they were driving had just been hijacked. Both suspects are expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 6 July 2026, facing charges including driving a car suspected of being hijacked, possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and impersonating a police officer.
