A MEMBER who is a leader in the campaign to eradicate illegal immigrants in South Africa, Mr. Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba, says that he did not receive a single penny from President Cyril Ramaphosa when he met him on Monday.
It will be remembered that there was talk about this meeting between Phakela, Ngizwe Mchunu and Ramaphosa.
Phekela came out publicly at a press conference at Gugu Dlamini Park, Durban, yesterday.
”In that meeting, I entered as myself and left without carrying anything. I don’t know where those who say I got money are getting that from,” he said.
He said there are people who want to tarnish his name and said that no matter what they do, there is nothing they can do to tarnish it because it has been pure since he was a little boy.
He revealed that rumors of receiving money from the president spread like wildfire until he received a call from another man who said he was disappointed that he had been silenced with money.
”I told him that there is nothing like that, I am still fighting for the country to be right. I also told him that this thing he is talking about I do not know where it comes from and who is talking about it.”
Continuing, he said that the biggest problem is that there are people who have a lot of hatred for the president of the country and now they want all the people to talk about the fact that they should also end up hating him, which he said he will not do.
When asked why she did not inform the founder of March and March, Mrs. Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma about the meeting with the president, she said that the meeting was at night and she would not call someone’s wife even after eight o’clock.
When asked what he discussed with the president, he replied that the meeting did not last very long.
Eqhuliwini said the president urged him to do everything possible so that Tuesday’s march does not end up getting out of hand and people get injured.
“He told me that there are countries that live in fear that after this march, they might come and take their dead people,” he said.
He said that the president gave him an assurance that he should be free and that will not happen at all.
”I told him not to be afraid, there won’t be any people who end up dying just because of the march. I said he will also see that this is a peaceful march with no violence at all,” he explained.
Regarding what will happen now that the June 30 deadline has passed, he said the marches will continue because they want to achieve what they are talking about.
He promised that one million jobs will be created before the end of the year. “It’s very easy to create job opportunities in this country, you kick out an undocumented immigrant and put in a local one and that’s it,” he explained.
He said that there are currently too many people in this country who have found jobs by entering the vacancies of immigrants who were employed improperly.
