WHEN it is June, a month known as promoting the role of young people in society, many churches in Zion tend to make different programs for young people, aimed at making them happy and growing each other.

However, something a little different happened this time when the three churches in Zion, which are Mighty Vision, Christ Our Rock of Salvation Ministries (CROS) and Zikhova Eziminqini, brought together the youth of these churches to be happy and purified with games for young people.

That happened at Dr JL Dube High, KwaMashu, Durban at the weekend – when the youth of these three churches gathered at this school to play football and basketball games together – which was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the churches.

The Leader of the young people of Mighty Vision, Bishop Cebolenkosi Ngcobo, said that with this program they are trying to build unity among the young people, and to break the existing boundary that Zionists meet only when there are big night services.

“This is very helpful for young people to grow, and to be able to advise each other on strategies and methods that can help to grow and develop the churches they belong to, and also prevent them from falling into the trap of things that are not the same,” said Ngcobo.

The Deputy Chairman of the youth of Zikhova Ezimnqini, Mr. Musa Ncala, said that what made them interested in this program is that they believe that good relations in the churches can help grow and promote the name of Zionism.

“And even in the Bible, which is the one we believe in the most – the importance of loving each other and coming together with good and innocent intentions like this appears,” he said.

Ms. Zinhle Sithole of CROS said that they were very happy that their program went successfully because they were doing it for the first time, they did not know what to expect.

“But the biggest thing is to highlight that the diversity of the churches we worship in is not greater than the one God we worship, so we wish others to follow suit and do the same so that we can grow,” said Ms. Sithole.
