A total of 100,733 business registration applications were received nationally on June 24, 2026, including 42,151 from foreigners. The province of KwaZulu-Natal leads the way with the highest number of applications and approvals.

This was confirmed by the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) chaired by immigration chairman Mmamoloko Kubayi. Kubayi said the Ministry of Small Business Development has launched a program to speed up the registration of small businesses to ensure that all traders operate legally and have the right permits.

“Collected information on permits and licenses from the 24th shows 100,733 applications received nationally, of which 42,151 are related to applications where the owner is a foreigner.

“Out of all 26,367 approved applications, including 6,749 where the owner is a foreigner,” he said.

Kubayi said KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest number of applications and approvals, while Gauteng recorded the highest number of applications but relatively few approvals.
