FORMER Khozi FM host Cyril Bongani “Kansas City” Mchunu revealed a shocking fact that was not known about how he got married to the radio host who did not impress the listeners.

Mapule “Indlovukazi” Ngobese, who is married to Nanda 88.4 manager Thandeka Ngobese, says she has a wound that will not heal because of allegations that she took a husband for her sister and even had a hand in her (sister’s) death in association with Kansas.

This lady spoke volumes about this in a book about her life titled My Truth. He said these lies are still being told even now when he was told by his family at the age of 17 to marry Kansas who had just been left behind by Mapule’s sister, Nokuthula MaZungu.

Explaining his relationship with Kansas, Mapule said he was preparing to write the end of year exams while studying Standard 10 (Grade 12) at a girls’ school in 1991.

He says Kansas, who was 38 years old, came to school with his cousin who was a social worker, they took him to Mchunu’s house in Msinga where he was ordered to agree to marry Kansas because he was tormented by his wife’s dreams, telling him to marry Mapule to revive his family.

Mapule said that he was completely shocked when he heard that because he had never seen himself falling in love with Kansas, let alone marrying him as he had taken away from his father. He said that even at school they called her Kansas’ daughter because of their father-daughter relationship.

“I was surprised and scared because this is the last thing I would have wished to happen. I was 17 years old, I had dreams of becoming an air hostess, the future was already in front of me.”

He said all this happened because he didn’t know about dating boys yet, and he felt the feelings of the girls he went to school with. Mapule said his cousin calmed him down and explained the customs of entry and entry. He said that although it was difficult to agree to Kansas, he finally committed himself after consulting with his mother who strongly believed in things that affect ancestors.

Continuing, Mapule says that Kansas treated him very well and even helped him to study teaching at Mbumbulu College of Education. However, Mapule said that he did not know that by agreeing to marry Kansas he was getting involved in speeches and insults.

“I was insulted, I was called all kinds of names by people who believed that I married Chunu after my sister’s death because I was dating her while she (my sister) was alive. Even today, my heart hurts when such rumors arise. Some say that Chunu and I killed my sister so that we could be together.”

In this book, Mapule revealed that this happened when Kansas was still suffering from the shame of having an affair with his cousin until they had children. Mapule said that this disgrace was bad for him and he wanted to bury it by getting married. Continuing Mapule, he said that Kansas passed away when he was 21 years old on November 21, 1996. He said that he was the one who closed his eyes as per his instructions.

After the death of Kansas, he said that he once tried to find love from other men but it ended up not being good and Thandeka is about to come and take him and marry him. Mapule said that he explained to the children of Kansas that he was about to marry someone else but he did not explain to them that it was someone of the same gender as him.

It’s on the weekend build on the content of this book as there are names of famous people appearing in some of its chapters. He doesn’t only talk about the pain, but he also talks about the joy of marrying Kansas and Thandeka.
