The family of a woman from KwaKhoza, Showe whose mother died at Showe Provincial Hospital wants answers.

Mrs Nokuthula Mtshali burst into tears when she explained how her daughter, Mrs Gcinile Thango (21) died.

Elandisa said that her daughter went to the hospital to give birth, and when she got there they drank and gave her help, but she finally got it.

He said they were bleeding profusely and it was unclear what was causing this. He revealed that they finally paid attention to the daughter and helped her teach her.

“After giving birth, she continued to bleed a lot now,” she explained. He said what was worrying them as a family was that the deceased did not receive the proper care for someone who has just given birth in a hospital.

He said that because he had lost strength and he had informed the nurses about this, they should have put him on a drip but nothing happened and he ended up not getting that help.

”I talked to him as he called me at night when he was talking and he cut off, it sounded like it was difficult for him to speak. “He told me that he is on the mend but he has a problem with heavy bleeding and they didn’t put him on a drip when he needs it because he has lost energy,” he said.

He said that when he asked him why they didn’t put him on a drip, he replied that he didn’t know why either.

“I was very sad when he told me that, but there was nothing I could do because I was at home,” he explained.

Continuing, she said she told her daughter to try to talk to the nurses so she can get the help she needs.

“To me, he said he talked to them, so I don’t know if he was right or if he was just saying that.”

He said his daughter told him that the baby is healthy and has no problems.

He revealed that he lay awake thinking about his child’s condition.

“I woke up early to get ready to pick up the baby from the hospital. I just woke up in the morning when the hospital called to inform me that he was dead,” she said.

He said his head just felt like it was spinning and he couldn’t believe what he was told by the person from the hospital who called.

“I went to the hospital and they told me that it is really true, he is no longer in the world.”

He said he asked what happened and they told him that he vomited and died.

After that, he said he asked to see his body, which was said to be in the hospital’s mortuary.

“Indeed, we went and we saw that it was my child who was sleeping and not breathing anymore.”

He insisted that something was wrong with his daughter’s death, accusing the hospital of negligence.

He said they were a family looking for direct answers about the death of his daughter, who he said was admitted to the hospital alive and well.

He said they filed a case for the death of their child because they want an investigation.

The KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Sergeant Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said the Showe police opened a booth after an incident where a woman passed the hospital who had been giving birth.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health has been sent questions about this issue and asked to be given the patient’s number on the card to get all the information about what happened.
