The president of the ANC’s women’s wing, Ms. Sisisi Tolashe, has been granted special leave to deal with the organization’s disciplinary program.

This decision was taken at a special meeting of the ANCWL executive, which met at the weekend in Gauteng. The secretary general of the ANCWL who is acting president of this unit, Ms. Nokuthula Nqaba, said that they decided for Ms. Tolashe to take leave because the ANC did not ask her to resign from this position.

“We have ordered him to take leave to deal with the ANC’s disciplinary system. The ANCWL Constitution states that if the president is not present, the general secretary must take over,” he said.

He appealed to the members to behave in a proper way as it is being passed at this time. Mrs. Tolashe was fired from the position of Minister of Community Development, after withholding the donation of cars that were donated to the unit, which she gave to her children. He was facing allegations of biased hiring in the department he was in charge of.

He was also accused of ordering another employee of his to take another part of his salary and give it to one of his children. President Cyril Ramaphosa fired him after the pressure that he had to show the way.

Another thing discussed at the ANCWL meeting is the influx of people from other countries into the country as well as the tension between the people of this country and those from other countries.

“We have encouraged the members to be in the community to fight the problem of people from other countries who are in this country illegally. We want the government to strengthen programs involving different agencies to deal with this problem. People should be taught that it is not only black people who are in this country illegally but there are other races,” said Ms. Nqaba.

He said they want to strengthen the laws that affect the control of businesses for those who are in the country illegally.

“We want the government to do something about the violence of the marches against people who are in this country illegally. We are continuing the fight to ensure that women have a voice in different organizations in this country.”
