The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has notified Jeep owners of two models being recalled.

The recalled models affect 354 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles of the WL series and 115 Jeep Wrangler vehicles sold nationwide.

According to the NPC, there may be a fault in the airbag controller of the Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles in question which results in the seat belt warning sign not functioning properly. This can pose a danger to the driver’s safety.

“Under certain circumstances, the warning sign or system may fail to adequately alert the driver when the seat belt is unfastened, potentially reducing occupant protection in the event of a collision,” the statement said.

The affected Grand Cherokee vehicles were sold in 2023 and distributed nationwide.

Regarding the Jeep Wrangler vehicles, the NPC warns that the instrument panel in the affected Jeep Wrangler models may suddenly disappear while the vehicle is driving.

“This can lead to important driving information such as the speedometer or warning information not being displayed, which can pose a safety risk for the driver of the vehicle.”

The Wrangler vehicles in question were sold nationwide between 2022 and 2024.

Owners of the affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to an authorized Jeep dealer for inspection and the necessary software update.

The repairs will be done free of charge.
