FANS of the teams that run in the top division of the country’s football, the Betway Premiership, may be lucky enough to get a rare opportunity to watch this year’s World Cup.

The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC) has launched the Mzansi To The World Cup competition, where 20 fans will be selected to accompany the local team, Bafana Bafana, when they go to play in the competition.

Each of the 16 teams playing in the Premiership will be represented by one fan, and four others will be selected to make up the total of 20.

This means that the teams from KwaZulu-Natal, who play in the top division, AmaZulu FC, Durban City, Richards Bay FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows, will also be represented by strong fans among those who will be nominated.

Fans need to go to the website of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture (DSAC), where they will be able to upload a 30-second video showing their love for football, how they support their team and the motivation to represent South Africa in the World Cup.

Entries opened yesterday morning and will close on Friday at 5pm. The Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, will announce the list of winners on Tuesday.

The most important thing is that those who wish to participate in the competition must ensure that they have a valid passport that will not expire this year.

The direct way to access the competition on the DSAC website is to follow this link https://dsacevents.dsac.gov.za/DSAC_LuckyFan_WC26/

“We are taking one lucky fan from all the top teams in the Premier Soccer League. The cost of flights, accommodation, transport to the matches and tickets will be paid by the department and the sponsoring companies,” said Minister Gayton McKenzie.

The fans will be selected by a panel of judges made up of experts in sports in the country including Robert Marawa, Andile Ncube, Vino Snap and others.”

Further terms and conditions regarding this competition are available on the DSAC website.
