DENYING the result of Bafana Bafana in the first match of Group A of the World Cup puts at risk the national team’s record of not being defeated twice in the group matches in all the three times it played in the tournament.

Bafana started the World Cup with Mexico but there is still an opportunity to improve things with the second group game against Czechia on Thursday at 6 pm, at the Atlanta Stadium, in the United States of America (USA).

Although there is still an opportunity, the highlight is that the Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, must implement a scheme that will free his players to do what they were doing when they were still qualifying for this tournament.

If Broos does not change his surroundings, his good history and his blood for the people of Mzansi are at risk.

Since Bafana returned to the World Cup, they have never been beaten twice in the World Cup in group games.

Although it started with a 3-0 defeat of France in 1998, it played in two draws with Denmark (1-1) and Saudi Arabia (2-2).

In 2002, in Korea/Japan, Bafana started with a 2-2 draw against Paraguay, followed by a 1-0 win over Slovakia.

Although there was a chance for Bafana to advance to the next stage in Korea/Japan, it was ruined by mistakes that led to a 3-2 loss to Spain in the last match coached by Jomo Sono.

In the South in 2010, Bafana were beaten 3-0 by Uruguay after they started with a 1-1 draw against Mexico before wrapping up the group with a 2-1 win over France.

Everything is up to Broos to change the way he ties the scheme so that Bafana’s dream of progressing to the Last 32 will be realized with impressive results in Czechia and South Korea in the group wrap up next week.
