THE COACH of Bafana Bafana, Hugo Broos, has come out in the open about the reason for their distance from playing friendly games with countries that are considered to be famous in world football, Brazil and Argentina.

Ever since it was announced that Bafana will start the World Cup qualifiers with Panama, there is a big uproar among the fans about the selection of this country which they describe as having history and which will not test Bafana.

Bafana will play twice against Panama on Friday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, and on May 31 at DHL Stadium, Cape Town.

It turns out that the South African Football Association (Safa) has been asked for friendly matches by Argentina and Brazil but they want money. Argentina led by the world star, Lionel Messi is said to want R84 million.

At a press conference in Pretoria on Monday, Broos said:

“Safa should have money close to R100 million if they want Bafana to play friendly matches with countries like Brazil or Argentina.

“We like to play with countries that are considered as hundreds in the world, but Safa does not have the money that these countries want if you want to play with them.

“We end up dating countries like Panama just because we are forced by the situation but they are not in a good position since there is money paid by Safa for these two matches.

“Next month we have to play with countries in Asia and Europe but even then we don’t know where we will end up because the countries are charging a terrible fee if you want to play with them.”
