Helen Zille, the DA’s mayoral candidate in Johannesburg, announced her plan to save Johannesburg to Johannesburgers in the form of an election manifesto on Saturday.

In this manifesto, the veteran politician makes five promises to the people of Johannesburg in the run-up to the municipal elections. The promises include reliable water and electricity and working roads.

“We will fill potholes within 72 hours, get 95% of traffic lights up and running and repaint road markings,” Zille promised Johannesburg voters on Saturday.

Zille also promises law and order if she is elected mayor.

???????????? United to get Joburg working. Today Helen Zille launched her 5 pledges to make this a reality.

“We will crack down on crime, reclaim hijacked buildings and stop land occupations. We will have zero tolerance for illegal immigration. We will listen to whistleblowers, protect them and fire corrupt officials.”

She also promises a “professional, modern government” if she were to be elected.

“We will hire competent professionals, reward good performance and punish poor performance. A fair billing system. Simple, user-friendly systems with the best modern technology. Government by you, for you and with you.

“Once elected, we will stop the rot, repair what is broken, and rebuild Johannesburg into a city its residents can be proud of – a city that delivers reliable services, ethical leadership, safer communities and real opportunities to work, live and succeed,” Zille said on Saturday.
