HE PROMISES that the team will do everything possible to win the Betway Premiership title this season despite the difficulties experienced by Orlando Pirates, Tapelo Xoki.

The Blacks topped the log with 51 points from 22 games. They are one point behind Mamelodi Sundowns who are in second place and have a game left.

Pirates last lifted the league cup when they won it twice in a row in 2011 and 2012. They have finished in second place three seasons in a row. However, the way he has raised the level made many believe that it will end the dominance of Sundowns who have won the league eight times in a row.

Xoki said the players are fully committed to ending the 14-year league drought.

“We are always giving ourselves. The most important thing for us is that we don’t pay attention to what is happening outside but focus on the plans and everything that is happening inside the team,” said Xoki.

“We are happy with what we have done this season. We have won two cups and we will fight until the last game of the league. I hope that this time we will be able to win the league because it is the title that has eluded us for many years. We will do everything to ensure that we win.”

Although Xoki has not been seen on the field this season due to an injury in a car accident in August, he believes that he has an important role to play in Zimnyama.

The player was injured when Pirates had an accident coming out of a league match against Chippa United where he and other members of the team were hit by a car while trying to help another driver who was in trouble.

“It doesn’t matter if he plays or not. He can still have an impact with instructions that can help the team,” he said.

“I make sure that the new players feel welcome and understand the responsibility that comes with playing for this team. I also encourage those who have come to the team to continue to be hungry for success. Everyone has a role to play in this team, and I understand mine,” said Xoki.

Although Xoki hopes that they will not let Sundowns go this season, there are many players who should continue their form including Tshepang Moremi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Oswin Appollis, Lebone Seema, Sipho Chaine and others.
