We were adjourned in court in Cape Town yesterday following the magistrate’s discomfort at the scene of the investigation into the death of Anele Tembe, the ex-fiancée of the late rapper AKA (Kiernan Jarryd Forbes).
Anele, who is the daughter of Durban businessman Moses Tembe, ended up in Cape Town in 2021 after falling asleep on the floor of the Pepperclub hotel.
Yesterday morning, it was expected that the hearing to investigate what happened at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court would begin, but it was postponed to September 7-9 and September 15-16.
This is due to the absence of Magistrate Vanessa Duimelaar who is said to have had a health emergency.
It was expected that the testimony of the six would be heard this week.
The representative of the two witnesses did not confirm the names of his clients.
The government revealed that the family of AKA, who was shot dead in Durban in 2023, has not confirmed whether they will have a lawyer if the trial continues.
The spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Division, Eric Ntabazalile, said that previously there were two lawyers who represented AK’s family but they withdrew.
“What we are waiting for now is for the Forbes family to clarify to the secretary of the court that they will bring new lawyers and whether they will bring witnesses before September,” said Ntabazalila.
Since Anele passed away, suspicions arose that AKA, who was in the same room with her, had a hand. It also turned out that Anele had signs of a suicidal person.
