EXPERTS say that tires need to be maintained in a way to help drivers save on petrol and diesel as the price is expected to increase next week.

Dunlop Tires expert, Keith Phelps, said that drivers can save money by taking care of their tires.

“Everyone is talking about the expected increase in the price of petrol and it is beyond control. However, there is something we can control. As drivers, it is our job to correct what we are doing which can have an impact on increasing costs because no one wants to pay high fees to go to school and work,” said Phelps.

He said the tires are not inflated in a way that makes the car stick to the road and increase the way it eats by 10%. He said it must be sprayed when it’s cold, the car has been parked for a long time because if it’s hot it can give you wrong numbers.

He went on to say that its aging makes the car work harder and consumes petrol

He said drivers should get used to changing the tires by taking the rear tires and putting them in the front so that they wear in the same way and save on petrol.

“In small cars, in general, they must be adjusted every 10,000 kilometers and then balanced and wheel alignment done.”

He said that cars with uneven front and rear tires should not be confused.
