KHWWE at noon three people are talking after being sentenced for raping a 17-year-old female student.

They were convicted at the Zakheni District Court in Mnambithi. Two, a 22-year-old and a 25-year-old, were sentenced to life in prison and the youngest was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal Fire and Rescue Department, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, said the incident happened on the night of April 21, 2024 when the robber was walking to their home.

He noticed that there were three men following him. He tried to avoid them by walking another way but they followed him and caught him. The woman remembered the 25-year-old rapist as he was once her stalker.

The rapists then pointed a gun at him, and began to demand money and a mobile phone. When he told them that he didn’t have anything, they said that he should be punished for that. They then took him to a place by the river where they took turns raping him before ordering him to bathe in the river and then they disappeared from the scene.

The victim then sought help at a nearby house of a fellow student and reported what had happened to him. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he was diagnosed. The first accused was arrested after the victim saw him at the mall. Two others were also found in other places.

The prosecutor, Sinethemba Hlongwane, explained the impact of the victim’s rape and said that she is afraid to be around other people and can no longer communicate with men.

After the sentence, the court said that the men are no longer fit to carry guns and their names will be added to the list of those convicted of rape.
