OYOFICWA will be squeezed in the race for the position of mayor in the Municipality which is the center of the country’s economy, in Nyama, there will be no end, where there will be a fight with seasoned leaders.

The young leaders intend to turn the tables in the race to lead the municipality with the largest budget among the municipalities in the country.

However, it will not be easy as even experienced leaders have not put themselves down.

The four groups have already announced who they will attack in the race for the position of mayor.

Two of the groups are young leaders, the other are experienced leaders.

The IFP has nominated the secretary of the youth wing who is also a member of the mayoral committee in the council, Mr. Mlungisi Mabaso. Mabaso is a young man who looks like a young man.

Mabaso has built his blood on the people because of his leadership where he is responsible for the settlement of the people in the council.

Another young leader who is in contention for the position is the one who represents Rise Mzansi, Mr. Lukhona Mnguni.

Mnguni does not have much history of holding positions in politics, he is more famous for his political analysis.

The DA is attacking a leader who has held many positions, Mrs. Helen Zille.

Mrs. Zille has been the prime minister of the Western Cape, the mayor of the Cape Town Municipality, and has held important positions in the DA.

ActionSA is attacking its leader, Mr. Herman Mashaba.

Mashaba was the mayor of this council when he was a member of the DA.

The other major parties in Johannesburg, ANC, MKP, and EFF have not yet announced who they will attack.

It is not surprising that the teams quickly started their campaigns in Johannesburg. This city is the center of the local economy, the municipality has a budget of R97.1 billion.

It is unlikely that there will be a successful party in this council, which means that it could be a coalition government.

Even in the last election, no party won by a landslide, 18 parties competed for seats.

The absence of a party that was successful in the last election showed us pranks, being prepared for the mayoralty.

The smaller groups benefited the most from the chaos that was taking place as they were just stealing positions, which could be something that could put a group like Rise Mzansi in a position to become the king.

Al Jama-ah has had two mayors in this period despite being the ninth largest party.

Al Jama-ah has three councilors out of 270 councilors in this Municipality.

The current Speaker, Ms Margaret Arnolds, is the tenth largest AIC councillor, with two councillors. Cope, which has one councillor, has also held this position.

In the last five years many mayors of Johannesburg have been kicked in the ass.

After the 2021 election, the chains of the mayoralty were thrown by the DA councillor, Dr Mpho Phalatse. He didn’t complete a year in this seat, he was knocked down by a donkey.

After him came the current mayor, Mr Dada Morero, who is an ANC councillor.

Morero held the position for one month and then he was removed and Dr. Phalatse was reinstated.

Dr. Phalatse did not stay for long, he repeated that, then Al Jama-ah councilor, Mr. Thapelo Amad entered. Amad didn’t even stay for four months, he went out backwards.

Another councilor of Al Jama-ah, Mr. Kabelo Gwamanda, was replaced.

Gwamanda ruled for a little over a year, leaving behind a dark cloud in late 2024. That’s where Morero came back and has held it until now.

They promise each other who are competing for the position

Zille

The DA is the second largest party in the council, with 70 councillors. Zille was the one who quickly started campaigning for office.

Mrs. Zille’s campaign is focused on infrastructure improvements. He always shoots near water infrastructure and roads that are not repaired. He promised to fight corruption and crime.

Mrs. Zille sees that there are many chances that there will not be a party that will win by a landslide, she wants there to be stability in the coalition government that will govern after the election.

Mashaba

ActionSA is the third largest party in the council, with 44 councillors.

Mashaba was the mayor of the council between 2016 and 2019. He says he wants to finish the work he started when he was in charge.

He seems confident that he will win the election as he has even announced the people he will work with.

Let them burn

The IFP is the seventh largest party, with seven councillors.

Mabaso’s list of promises consists of ten points.

Among these points are economic development, infrastructure maintenance, and law enforcement.

Man

Rise Mzansi will start contesting local government elections this year.

Mnguni believes that in order to change the state of the council, people should vote for honest leaders.

He prides himself on being a leader who does not tolerate corruption. He promised to fight corruption and fix the infrastructure.
