Two police officers and a citizen suspected to be linked to the illegal sale and possession of precious metals have been arrested following a thorough investigation by the Gauteng Counter Intelligence Operations (GCI-OPS).

The suspects were arrested following an investigation into alleged transactions in precious metals, corruption and related crimes. The arrest of these arrested over the weekend was carried out by the team that had issued a J50 warrant for their arrest.

A large number of intelligence officers are believed to have accompanied detectives during the raid on the Houghton flats in Johannesburg, where Major-General Firoz Khan was arrested. It is said that the police knocked on the doors to enter the house. According to eNCA, a number of mobile phones were seized during the search. Khan and the Chief of the Hawks, Major-General Ebrahim Kadwa, are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. Kadwa was picked up from his home in Johannesburg. According to a police report, the two, and a man, who owns a security company in Durban, were arrested following an investigation into alleged illegal selling and possession of precious metals.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks involved in illegal trade in precious minerals and corruption.

The suspects are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing charges that may include illegal sale of precious metals, breaking the law, corruption and breaching the laws governing precious metals in South Africa.

The political party accused by Floyd Shivhambu The Afrika Mayibuye Movement has welcomed the arrest of police officers Major General Firoz Khan and Ebrahim Kadwa who have been accused of crimes for a long time. These police officers are accused of serious crimes including abusing their positions in the police force for personal gain and organized corruption.
