THE community of Lindelani, KwaDukuza, is worried about a local man running for council who is said to be demanding money to repair the electricity of snakes.

He then warns them that they should give them R30 because he does not want to talk to them about the electricity issue again.
“If you don’t want to do that, which means you won’t have gas again, you’ll see it as a piece of cake. I won’t beg you for something that helps you,” said the man.
A member of the community, who is the Deputy Mayor of KwaDukuza, Mr Phathabakhe Shezi, told It is a country that this is a problem that the public does not know how to solve because you are tired of paying the money that is being demanded every day.
“The people who are facing this pressure, the people who unknowingly bought the land of the natives of India. That case is still going on in the court because the land owners took him to court. After buying the land, the community installed the electricity of the snakes that are always bothering them,” said Shezi.

“It has been a long time since he sent people in the community to collect this money and deliver it to him. This person who fixes the electricity when he dies is his friend,” said Shezi, who said that the money is collected twice a month.
He said the sad thing is that members of the community are afraid of this man because he is someone who has spent a long time in prison for serious crimes.
“He is the wrong person, and he gets along with the wrong people. The public cannot tell him in the eyes that he is tired of paying R30,” he said.
He said that the local leadership is afraid of this man and the police have not filed a case against him because he has friends there.
When contacted, Gumede said that he does not want to continue to make many comments because Shezi is playing cheap politics since the elections are being watched.
“No one wants money by force from the community. People are the ones who see for themselves that there is a need to spend it because they are the ones who face the problem when they come home from work without electricity,” said Gumede.
He admitted that that community lives in an area that has not yet received electricity development, which is why people connect themselves to snakes.
He emphasized that people connect snakes to themselves as they do in other places.
“Those who say that I am stealing money for electricity are just playing politics, I am speaking loudly for the creature,” said Gumede.
