Eleven suspects are expected to appear for the first time at the Swartruggens Magistrate’s Court, today.

They are facing charges related to drug production, illegal possession of precious metals, possession of dangerous goods and violation of the Immigration Act.

This follows an intelligence operation carried out by the Head of Crime Intelligence, the office of the head of organized crime, and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) and other stakeholders which led to the arrest of eleven (11) suspects linked to the case of drug production on May 13.

The operation led to the discovery of a large illegal drug manufacturing facility believed to be involved in the production of methamphetamine.
