THE PLAYER who will take home the golden boot from the World Cup which is going on in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America (USA) may be the one who leads his national team to become the champions of this tournament which will conclude on July 19.

The momentum with which the players started to see those who had already been taught to do well is an indication that this World Cup may be one that will always be remembered because of the records that have already been broken before reaching the playoffs.

Although there are countries that have not yet finished their group games, there are records that have been broken, such as that of the player with the most goals in the history of the World Cup, which is held by Lionel Messi from Argentina.

The players who started the tournament and are expected to perform miracles are Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland of Norway and Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal who have started to show themselves.

When Messi scored two goals against Austria, he broke the record of 16 goals in the World Cup held by Miroslav Klose from Germany.

Messi, who is the leading scorer with five goals in two games, has scored 18 World Cup goals in total.

Messi is not sitting comfortably at the top of the goals since Mbappe has not put himself down as he has scored four times with him in two group games.

The French striker who took home the golden boot in Qatar (eight), is two behind Messi in the World Cup record.

Another player who came to the tournament under scrutiny despite his country not having much history in it is Haaland.

The Manchester City striker who is a goal machine has also found the net four times in two group games.

Although he had a cold start, the two goals scored by Ronaldo during Portugal’s 5-0 win over Uzbekistan should have given him confidence that he can continue to score more.

Ronaldo has broken his own records since the World Cup, he has surpassed Eusebio as he has 10 World Cup goals for Portugal.

Apart from that, 41-year-old Ronaldo is the only player in history to have scored goals in six consecutive World Cups.
