A woman from Panikeni, Mariannhill, Durban FEELS the repeated pain, as a year is coming to an end holding her three grandchildren by the teeth of a daughter who has not yet been found and is suspected to have been injured by a witch doctor (69) in June last year.

In this incident which is suspected to have happened at the beginning of June last year, Miss Nobukhosi Zulu (34) and her 18-month-old daughter disappeared mysteriously.

According to the family, they were last seen walking with a stilt, carrying their bags, leaving the Sunshine apartment in Mariannhill.

Ms. Zulu’s mother, Ms. Thandazile Ngcobo (52), said It is a country that he was contacted by the daughter’s boyfriend, asking him if he was at home as something unusual had happened, that they had been away from each other for a long time.

He said that after she refused, the boyfriend went back to the house to find out exactly where she disappeared to and that’s when they found out that the last time they were seen, they were walking with a stick.

“The tenants advised us not to wait until the end of June, to see if they don’t come back because he used to take the rent as he was a resident of Pietermaritzburg. A month passed and nothing came,” said Ms. Ngcobo.

He said that’s where they got the number of the stand, they called him and asked where Ms. Zulu and the child were, he denied them and said he didn’t know them. He said they then handed over to the police to report the incident, and a missing person docket was opened.

“While we were looking at the police investigation, another information emerged that he was seen arriving in Ndwedwe with a small child, and when asked, he said it was his grandson,” said Ms. Ngcobo.

He said that the news shocked even his daughter Umastende as she came out and said that her mother has no grandchildren. He said he then asked the Ndwedwe people to send a picture of the child who came with his mother and called him a grandchild.

“That’s when when a photo was sent, it was found to be my 18-month-old grandson. When the police went to his home in Pietermaritzburg, they found my grandson alive,” said Ms. Ngcobo, who said her daughter could see her waist.

He said even when he was asked by the steward where Ms. Zulu was, he denied and said he did not know her. It is said that when he was asked how it happened that his child was found from him if he did not know him, he prayed.

It turns out that they cried for him there, even though the move in the case has never been explained to the family of the fighter.

“It was recently, when I was contacted by a new investigator, who told me that this case will soon go to court, which put me at ease,” said Ms. Ngcobo.

He said that until now he has not been able to sleep since he will not point to his daughter’s grave, which he said he can tell from the blood that she was killed.

“I suspect that she killed my child, she made medicine with it as she is said to be a sorceress. Even her relatives described her as a bad woman,” he said. He said what he wants is justice, for the woman to be punished for her actions, and to find out where her daughter was buried.

He reported another tragedy, saying that three out of four of the victim’s children are unable to raise them, he is asking for help.

“The oldest (15) lives at his father’s house, the other three, of which there are two, six and ten years old, live with me. They are my grandchildren, there is nowhere I can take them but I help them. One day we sleep without eating, there is nothing for me to cook,” he said.

He said this affects the children as well as he is a pill addict, since he started to get sick after his daughter mysteriously disappeared.

He said that among the grandchildren there is one who does not have a birth certificate, and he said that two have recently obtained them, and he has failed to make efforts to register them for the government’s children’s allowance.

“I would appreciate any help. I am suffering, physically and mentally, I am sick that my daughter disappeared in a mysterious way, and I am worried that I have grandchildren to raise,” he said.
