Tashreeq Morris is expected to appear in Durban City as it appears that he is among the players dismissed by Kaizer Chiefs before the start of the 2026/2027 season.

City, who recently appointed Khalil Ben Youssef who was the coach of Chiefs last season, released six players, including Joslin Kamatuka and Falakhe Tshanini whose contracts were not renewed.

Four who were loaned to this team last season, Sphiwe Mahlangu and Ronaldo Maarman were returned to Sekhukhune United, Terrence Mashego returned to Mamelodi Sundowns, and Taahir Goedeman returned to Cape Town City.

Among the players who are being evaluated by this team with a view to signing them are left back Cohen Stander and goalkeeper Mlondi Mbanjwa, who was on the books of AmaZulu FC.

Morris (32), who was signed by Chiefs in the middle of the 2024/2025 season from Supersport United, had become bench food for this Naturena team as last season he played only four games and scored one goal.

Morris is only linked with City, and last season there were reports that he was wanted by the Citizens while he was being coached by Gavin Hunt, who was the one who wanted to sign the striker he coached in Supersport in previous seasons.

Ben Youssef, who will be coaching for the first time in the Premiership as a head coach, has the challenge of continuing in the role of the coach left by the previous coaches in this team from Durban that did well in its first season in this division.

City, who won the Nedbank Cup, finished eighth in the Betway Premiership log last season, will play in the Caf Confederation Cup next season. This means it will need experienced players like Morris.
