Speculations about the coach who will take over as coach of Durban City are over as the team is expected to officially introduce Khalil Ben Youssef.

It turns out that City have finished everything with Ben Youssef who was training in collaboration with Cedric Kaze last season at Kaizer Chiefs. It has been two weeks since he was linked with the coaching position of this team which was in the process of searching for a coach to lead it next season.

It is a country reported last week about Ben Youssef, who was competing with his rivals for the coaching position of the Durban team, which was looking for a coach to lead it next season as it will play in the African continent’s competition, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Confederation Cup.

Eric Tinkler and Dan “Dance” Malesela are among other coaches who were vying for the City coaching position.

Tinkler, who left Sekhukhune United last season, was at the forefront of discussions, and it seems that he is the one with a better chance of being selected, but the tables turned.

“Discussions between Khalil (Ben Youssef) and the team management have been completed. All that remains is for him to be officially announced as the new coach.

At the moment I don’t have information about the amount of the contract he signed as I have not met the lady who works in the office, handling the files of the players and coaches,” said a source of this newspaper who is close to City.

“Since the chairman, Farook (Kadodia) returned today (yesterday) from vacation, we are looking for him to make the announcement of the coach tomorrow (today) as on Monday the team will start training, preparing for the next season.”

Ben Youssef takes over from Pitso Dladla, who has been in charge of Citizens since February, following the separation of this group with Sinethemba Badela.

Despite Dladla successfully leading the team to win the Nedbank Cup by defeating TS Galaxy 2-1 in the final, they finished in the Top 8 in their first season and were promoted to the Betway Premiership.

But his lack of Caf A Licence required by Caf for the coaches of the teams that will play in its competitions, is what has slandered him.

So he is expected to be Ben Youssef’s deputy who has a Caf A Licence.

Efforts to reach Kadodia were unsuccessful as he did not answer his phone yesterday.
