CAR: ICAUR V27

It will be the end of this month when the garages of the new Chinese import company iCAUR will be presented with two cars.

iCAUR is a subsidiary of Chery that develops electric SUVs. There are also Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV) which means they have a petrol generator that charges the battery.

iCaur will start by selling the V23 which will be followed by another 0T3.

At the Beijing International Auto Show, the ROBOX is a new concept SUV.

It looks rugged as it is equipped with desert tires. However, the complete information about it is not available as it is still an illustration.

Another SUV they have introduced is the V27 right-hand drive. This means that it will spread to other countries including South Africa in late 2026 or early 2027.

We got a unique opportunity to feel the power from Wuhu, we crossed the Gao Chun Old Street tourist area and we always walked over the Shijiu Lake Bridge which is about 12km long that connects Lishiu and Gaochun.

From the outside, it looks like an SUV, as if it was a Land Rover Defender, in some places you could say it was taken from a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

It lights up with LED lights, has 21 inch rims and leaves a footprint of 224mm.

There’s a lot you can do on the outside to make it different, such as adding roof rails, a ladder to the roof, side loading areas, a towbar, you can even lift it up with dirt tires and more.

When you go inside, 5m of it is where you see your value because it is open.

It has leather seats and in the back I don’t see anyone complaining about the space because it is so spacious. I actually thought it could carry seven passengers.

Up front is a large touchscreen infotainment system but I liked that they also included buttons to adjust the temperatures below for convenience.

Having the gear on the side of the steering wheel has made room for two wireless charging stations. There are two charging ports on the bottom and another on the back.

The sedan we were driving had a panoramic sunroof in the middle separated by a Pioneer speaker.

The iCaur V27 is all-wheel drive with two electric motors.

The 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine works to charge the battery and does not put any power to the wheels.

This is done to eliminate the fear of being able to travel a long distance since the battery is 34.31kWh which if you charge it full you can travel approximately 150 kilometers on electricity alone.

If a 60 liter petrol tank is full, they say it can travel approximately 1000 kilometers.

The V27 Reev’s power is 335kW and 505Nm of torque.

It moves like an electric car because of its silence and when you step on it, it responds quickly and powerfully.

I felt comfortable even on the road, I don’t know if it was because of the good roads where we were, I didn’t see even a single pothole.

It was quiet inside, it seems that it was a car to get away with the family.

It can also go on dirt because of its height and traction on all wheels but it is not a mountain as it does not have a diff lock and 4L.

The first time I heard it buzzing was when it was parked and the coffee machine was plugged in because you can use it as a generator.

We drove 88 kilometers and it showed that it consumes 8.3l./100km.

Social media has started talking about it, we are waiting to see how it will be when its price is confirmed.
